Cathy Levett’s wonderful book, Westy, was launched on 7 March by the Minister for the Environment, hosted by the Ellenbrook Library and with a wonderful morning tea provided by Member for Upper Swan Jessica Shaw. Over 60 people attended.

Signs for the Bullsbrook History Museum are now complete and erected in the forecourt of the Museum in Turner St, Bullsbrook.

In 2015 we held an Art Competition for an image to be placed on drain stickers, and since then we have been gluing them to storm water drains around local schools. The project has now been completed, but we still have about 30 stickers left. If anyone has ideas about where they could go, please let me know.

New extension to Ellen Brook Nature Reserve was opened on the 1st June by Threatened Species Minister, Dr. Sally Box.

Donations

Margaret River Chocolate Factory has once again donated from the proceeds of the sale of chocolate tortoises – $5000

Andrew Triglavcanin has once again arranged for a donation tin at Grill’d in Mt Lawley for September. We are aiming for the trifecta – winners three years in a row.

Upper Swan PS and CO2&U team at Aveley PS, together with many other school and private donations for which we thank you all.

Over 1000 volunteer hours have been recorded at DBCA by Friends of the Western Swamp Tortoise group.

We have been reaching out to other groups and now have an MOU with the Perth Zoo, a newsletter exchange with the British Chelonia Society, the Adelaide and Monaro Zoos and close collaboration with Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots Program and TORNN.
